Windows 2K Locks up over night

Every night My windows 2000 system locks up and I have to
reboot the computer to get anything to respond again.

I deleted all of the chk, and tmp files. I also ran a
scandisk and a defrag and it still locks up. Any other
ideas that I should try.

I had a similar problem with one of my workstations last year. I tried swapping out virtually all of the hardware components one at a time with no resolution. Just on a whim, I swapped the motherboard (luckily I had one with the same chipset so W2K didn't complain when it booted and saw the new hardware.) This machine has been "rock-solid" ever since.

I replaced the both motherboard and processor as the processor on the removed motherboard was soldered in and not in a ZIF socket, so I am not positive whether the problem was the motherboard or the processor.

Just my resolution to a similar problem. Good luck.
