Windows 2003 Server - Group Policy not applying to clients.

** Note - I am running this in a virtual PC environment **

Greetings all,

I am unable to get my clients, 2 virtual Windows XP SP 2 machines, to apply
Group Policies I setup in the GPMC. When I attempt to troubleshoot the
problem with RSOP I get the following message:

"Failed to connect to host HOME\TESTXP2 due to the error listed below.
Ensure that the WMI service is enabled on target computer, and consult the
event log of the target computer for further details."

Details:
"The RPC server is unavailable."

I went ahead and verified, and the client has both the WMI service started,
and no errors or strange entries in the local Event Logs. (Application or
System) DNS is setup and working properly, local names resolve locally and
any external names are set to be forwarded to an external DNS server.
(Multi-homed PC) I can ping both by IP and Name the server from the clients,
and vice versa.

Can anyone lend me a hand with some additional troubleshooting tips? Thanks!

Fenris.

This is most likely a DNS issue. Make sure you have an AD Integrated zone
for the domain, and that all servers (including the DC) and all workstations
have ONLY AD DNS servers listed in their TCP/IP Properties.
