My comp, seems to restart quite often for no apparent reason whatsoever?! It
is patched to the latest patches and ive also run virus check on it but it
hasnt found anything- has anybody got any ideas what is causing this and how
to solve it?
Besides updating windows and virus check, look for a good spy-ware program
(spyware blaster i.e) and run it.
Another problem could be adware, a good check is Ad-aware from lavasoft.
BTW, did you install new hardware or software lately?
If this is all OK now, there might be a problem with the RAM memory,
download memtest86, install it on a floppy, boot your computer with it and
run an extensive test.
Then chech with the manufacturer of your hard disk. They usually have a
toool/utility to test de the hard drive. Use it and find out if this is a
problem or not.
Finally, chech if your system isn't overheating. Download
MotherBoardMonitot (mbm5) and have a close look at the temperatures of your
CPU, MoBo, auxiliary componants, hard disk etc. have a close look at the
various voltage measurements and compare with the MoBo manual, or Mfg site.
maybe ther is a power Supply problem.
