Windows 2000 - strange Ports Listening

H

Henry

Hi

I notice that there're a lot of strange high ports
listening on my Windows 2000 servers. When compared with
the port list from IANA it doesn't make sense because I
don't have those applications installed. Does Windows
randomly select high ports to listen? Or are they opened
by some Trojan horses?

BTW, the servers are quite up-to-date with anti-virus and
hotfixes.

The listening ports include (sorry for the long list):

1026, 1029, 1031, 1032, 1034, 1041, 1045, 1047, 1049,
1058, 1061, 1062, 1063, 1064, 1066, 1067, 1074, 1077,

1433, 1434, 1436, 1438, 1440, 1444, 1445, 1446, 1587,
1684, 1685, 1688, 1696, 1697, 1698, 1699, 1700, 1723,

Thanks for taking time to go through my message. I hope

Download, installl and run tcpview from www.sysinternals.com and it will
help identify the application(s) opening these ports.
