Objective: Restore MS Jet 40 SP6
Microsoft Access ODBC gives the following error: "Invalid Argument"
Windows 2000 SP4 installs MS Jet 40 SP7 automatically.
SP7 has a bug and no POST SP4 fix is yet available.

WARNING: Apply this at your own risk!

#1 If you installed Jet40 SP7 (Q282010) before doing Windows 2000 SP4 update.
Unhide C:\WinNT\System32\$NtUninstallKB282010$ folder
Run C:\WinNT\System32\$NtUninstallKB282010$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

#2 If the uninstall folder does not exist on your PC:
Using WindowsUpdate, download/install(q282010) from a Windows 2000 SP3 PC.
(It is listed as a seperate recommended update)
Copy $NtUninstallKB282010$ folder to your PC and run it.
This works even if SP4 is installed, with all the usual Microsoft warnings.

#3 If a Windows 2000 SP3 PC is not available
Download Jet40Sp6.exe (found it doing an ftp search)
Download WFPAdmin.exe from http://www.collakesoftware.com/CSdownloads.htm
14 day trial, It disables Windows File Protection)
Install WFPSetup and Temporarily disable Windows File Protection (WFP)
on the three folders used below
Copy dao360.dll TO C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO
Copy All Jet DLL Files TO C:\WinNt\System32
Copy All Jet DLL Files TO and C:\WinNt\System32\DllCache
Reboot

Thanks for posting this. That WFPAdmin utility is particularly
interesting.
