Windows 2000 Professional runs on my Compaq Presario 4770
computer, however, it will not run properly on my HP
Pavilion 9694c computer. There is no sound and the CD
Drives do not work. Also, I can not access the internet.

Why does the 2000 os work on the Compaq and not on the HP
Pavilion. HP claims they do not support Windows 2000 or NT.

I would appreciate an explanation as to why this condition
exists.

Thanking you in advance.

If the sound card, CDROM, and NIC are supported by Win2K, then the problem
might be that you have a bad motherboard. Otherwise, your best bet it to
take the machine to a local computer shop and get someone qualified to fix
it.
