Windows 2000 & Netgear WG311 Wireless Adapter

Ken

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro on a Dell Dimension 4300.
When a Netgear WG311 wireless adapter is installed, the
computer freezes at the Windows start-up window and does
not boot up, and a hard shut-down is required to turn off
the computer.

If the wireless adapter is installed without the drivers,
Windows looks for new hardware, loads the drivers and the
computer boots up. However, it will then randomly freeze
up, which requires a re-boot and then will not boot up
again.

Is anyone aware of a compatibility problem between
Netgear, Dell or Windows 2000? Netgear Technical Services
has referred me to Dell and Microsoft.
