Windows 2000 Mapping and passwords

When i map a windows 2000 machine to any MS network share
users are promted (after reboot) to enter a domain
password in order to gain access. Whats up with this?
Windows XP holds the users password but Win 2000 doesn't,
is there a fix or work around?

TIA

There should be a place to enter credentials when creating the Map so that
it always uses the same ones each time.

There is, but every reboot comes up with the incorrect
password box and it ask for the correct domain password.
Is there a way to clear the cached passwords and
connections?
