Windows 2000 crashed with USB

Hi,

I have an HP pavilion 6745c. It came with ME, but that sucked so I
formatted and installed 2000. I have a USB printer that works
perfectly with the machine. However, if I try other USB devices the
machine reboots. That is, I have a camera that I would like to connect
to download pictures. As soon as I plug the camera in, the machine
reboots without warning. Same thing happens with a portable USB drive
I just bought. I have searched but nothing has fixed the problem. Any
ideas? Is this more likely to be a USB driver problem or a
hardware/power problem?

Thanks.

Being as HP's motherboard is proprietory, I suspect that might have
something to do with it. I would recommend using your restore disk and
putting your HP back the way it was when you bought it so you have the
proper drivers for your motherboard (that controls the USB ports).

ME is OK if you continually maintain it.

Unfortunately for the OP you are correct, HP has no Win2K drivers
available for the Pavilion 6745c; the choices are Win98, WinME or WinXP.
