windows 2000 cd drive problem

tom d.

When I switched from NT to 2000 my computer hangs up when
I open "my computer" and browse the drives. I have an HP
CD burner and a Toshiba CD drive that came with the
machine. When I disconnect either CD drive from the cable
the computer works great (no hangups) What can I do to fix
this?

Have you checked the master/slave jumper settings on both
drives to make sure they are not in conflict?

There are situations where the NT4 atapi driver works with two devices but the
Win2k driver does not. One of those bugs not in MS KB. Try swapping
master/slave jumpers.
