Windows 2000 Boot Options

I see that in Windows 98, Anti Virus programs are
initiated from the Autoexec file. I would like to
initiate an Anti Virus from my Boot.ini file. Is this
possible as I do not feel the same security from loading
the program from the Task Scheduler at Windows Startup?

Alot of the current Virus Attacks try to gain access to my
system files, does using Scheduler to run the program At
Windows Startup initiate it before loading these files?

I don't know that I've seen a modern AV software package that doesn't run as
a Windows service. As a service, which you can see by entering
"services.msc" in your RUN dialog, can be set to start up as the OS is
loading. And that is the case with any modern AV software, I'd be willing
to bet. If you are using AV software that needs to start on a scheduled
task, get some better AV software. Also, some AV software uses scheduled
tasks to get updates, which is fine. The AV protection is still running,
and that task is just to remind it to go get the latest virus definition
files. So, if you see a task for that, don't fret over it. TAke a look at
your services and see if there is an AV service. I can't tell you what it'd
be called, as you did not indicate what package you're using.

Agree with all above Ray.

OP might need to study his OS some and realize that neither boot.ini
nor config.sys and (mostly) not autoexec.bat play any role in NTx
systems that relates to DOS or W9x. The Getting Started reference
covers this IIRC.

Thanks to all..

Could not quite see a System file being deleted by the AV
whilst Booting, have settled for Task Scheduling.

Appologies for not reading, too many questions going on
upstairs to focus. More appreciation gained just trying!
