Hello,
I have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server running managing
a domain, well it was. When the machine came into my
responsibility it was not advertising that it is a domain
controller. I have run dcdiag which gave me the following:

Starting test: Advertising
Fatal Error:DsGetDcName (HUPAS) call failed, error
1355
The Locator could not find the server.
......................... HUPAS failed test
Advertising

Warning: DcGetDcName(KDC_REQUIRED) call failed, error

I have checked the dns which is the same machine. NTP im
not sure if it is working or not but it is running.
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? THanks a mil in

Hi Jason,

I'm by no means an expert in this subject matter of DNS, but I'll try to
assist you to the best of my ability. Basically, this Error 1355 means the
following:

ERROR_NO_SUCH_DOMAIN
# The specified domain either does not exist or could not be
# contacted.

The following article should be a good starting point in troubleshooting
this issue:

283133 Error Message: The Specified Domain Either Does Not Exist or Could
Not
