windows 2000 access permission problems.

Somehow I doubt I will get an answer to this here. But ill
ask anyway. Today, a bizzare problem cropped up. I am
unable to access two directories on our windows 2000
server, server. Even logged as administrator, at the
actual machine itself, I am unable to do anything. I cant
even change persmissions or ownership on these two
directories. Anybody have any clue as to whats going on
here?

It is possible that the user who created the directories
set access control such that only that creator account can
see the directory (or that some Admin recently changed the
settings). Logging in as an Administrator is not like
being root in unix, you are really only one of any number
of administrators.

Make sure that that administrators have the right to take ownership on
that computer. Check "effective" settings in Local Security Policy. Also
check that you are actually logged on as an administrator and not a renamed
account, and that the account you are logged on with is in the local
administrators group on that server - sometimes you may find that the domain
admins have been removed from that group. Check Event Viewer for anything
unusual. --- Steve
