Window XP shuts down automatically

I upgraded my PC with Window 98 to Window XP. After
activated, the intiated Window XP is automatically shut
down with the following error message. Shut down was
initiated by NT AUTHORITYw-SYSTEM. Window must now
restarted because Repote Procedure Call(RPC) service
terminated unexpectly. And automatic restart starts.
Sometime this auto-restart cycle repeats. What are the
problems wi Window XP upgrate?

You've probably connected to the Internt without following the standard
security precautions, and now your machine is infected with the Blaster
worm. See www.microsoft.com/blaster as starting point to read about how
to fix.

Hi M,

When the shutdown warning appears, click start/run and enter "shutdown -a"
to halt the process. It's a virus called blaster or lovesan. Information:

You need the patch described here to protect against it:

Problem is, you needed to install the patch BEFORE you got infected to avoid
it.

Your computer is now infected with the W32.Blaster.Worm or
one of its variants. This happened because you have not
been using an internet connection firewall and have
apparently neglected to install the critical updates
available at the Windows Update website.

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
This opens the Command Prompt window.

Then type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

Then immediately turn-on Windows XP's built-in Firewall:

(To enable the built-in firewall, go to:
Control Panel, double-click Networking and Internet
Connections, then click Network Connections. Right-click
your connection, then
Click Properties, and on the Advanced tab, click the option
"Protect my computer and network..." Note: the built in
firewall only monitors incoming traffic not outgoing (ie
spyware, trojans, etc.. you may have on your system).)

Special note if you use AOL:
America Online installs its own connection settings that
override
the ones that come with Windows XP. America Online's
connection settings don't include a way to turn on Windows
XP's
built-in firewall.

I have XP Pro for a couple of months. In word I am constantly getting a Microsoft Error Message giving me two choices: 1. To report error to Microsoft 2. To end the application. It occurs whenever I open a Word file or while I am using a file. I click "report to Microsoft" many times. It also shuts down my application after that. It has rendered my Word software usless. Some of the error message details are: Winword.exe, AppVer:11.0.6113.0, Digital Product ID, hpzntp07.dll, Syst. Info Windows NT 5.1 Build 2600. I have no idea what this means. Any direction from anyone would be helpful. I have had computer people look at it to no avail. Oh, of course I lose any opened program
