Window XP Genuine copy

I have a laptop with with window XP professional bought from a person at a
market that has long gone!!. I do not have a copy of the operating system and
have found out that the installed is not genuine. I wish to purchase a
genuine product key for the £90 +. But if I have any problems with this
laptop in the future that means removal of the operating system. would this
result in me needing a full version then or should I just buy a full version
now?

To correct your issue, you'll need to purchase a
"Full Version" of Windows XP Professional
and then perform a "Repair Install" using the
new, genuine, Windows XP Professional CD
and the Product Key that comes with it.
