Hi Guys,
Got a problem, my wife's computer will not boot up it says: Windows could
not start because the following file is corrupted :
WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
I am trying to use the recovery console, put the Windows Xp disc in but
when I get to the part where I select 'r' for repair press enter, then I am
presented with a screen that says:
C:\WINDOWS
Which window installation would you like to log onto, to cancel press ENTER
Where the flashing cursor is it will only let me type one key for example I
want to type C:WINDOWS but all it will let me type is C

How can I effect a recovery, am I doing something wrong Help appreciated
Thanks and Regards
Bob

My recollection says that you have to type the number 1,
then enter the administrator's password when prompted.

It numbers the installations. If you look closely you'll see a 1. before
the only listing. Type 1. If you have more than one XP installation type
the correct number.
