WinDefender New Install

I have been following this group for some time now to see if I'm willing to
install Windows Defender yet or not. Well, I decided, since the latest
version seemed to be less buggy, to go for it today. Since you guys mostly
get negative feedback, thought you'd like a bit of positive feedback. I
installed from microsoft.com download page. All went as explained on that
site. Showed Defs Version 1.0.0.0 and that I was 101 days out of date on
that score. Wouldn't change doing the update from inside the program. So I
went to www.windowsupdate.com (as mods here & MS-KB918355 article explain)
and clicked custom install and "SURPRISE" it showed me I needed to update
those defs. I accepted that update and all went OK. Defender scanned the
first time with no problems. Defender now showing me with Defs Version
1.14.1436.4. Really like the interface so far. Like the bubble-stlye alerts
down in the systray. I had uses MSAS beta I but had rrecently uninstalled it
because it seemed to be a resource hog.

Just wanted to let you guys know that sometimes it all works the way it's
supposed to, despite the fact I'm not alll that computer savvy, despite all
the posters here to the contrary. At least on my Plain Jane Windows XP SP2
machine, no problems. And I even forgot to first turn off RTP in
Spywarguard, SpywareBlaster and Spybot Immunize before I downloaded (which I
usually do). Of course I recognize each system configuration is unique and
can cause problems. I guess Ijust lucked out.
