$WIN_NT$.~BT

Is $WIN_NT$.~BT the install directory name of Windows XP?
If so, how do I edit the boot config so it doesn't bring up
XP? My install is corrupt and I have to restart, but it
won't let me without doing so. Thanks.

Thats the temp location for boot files of an install. The windows directory
name is Windows.

Hi Joseph

If that is the 'temp' location for the boot files of an XP installation, why isn't that folder deleted after the installation has been completed? If it was deleted, there wouldn't be so much confusion as to what that folder is for. All good installers should delete their 'temp' files after installation.

Normally it is deleted. Apparently there was a minor problem in the final
stages of this particular installation that caused the folder to be left
behind.

Greetings --

That's a temporary folder created during the installation of the
OS or possibly a service pack. It should have been deleted
automatically at the conclusion of a successful installation. You may
safely delete it.

As Sharon said, it typically is deleted. I have seen things like AV running
on an upgrade cause the folder to be left behind but typically the only time
you will still be able to see the folder is on a hung or busted
upgrade/clean install.

Stop deletion of files from $WIN_NT$.~BT and $WIN_NT$.~LS during setup?

During the text mode portion of XP setup, some of the files copied from the temp directory $WIN_NT$.~LS are deleted as soon as they are copied into the final installation directory.

Is there a way to stop this deletion from happening? Is there also a way to stop directories $WIN_NT$.~LS and $WIN_NT$.~BT from being deleted as setup completes?

I've looked at TXTSETUP.SIF but cannot see anything there that distinguishes the individual files being deleted from those that are not deleted. I have not been able to find a definitive guide to explaining all the switches used in TXTSETUP.SIF. Such a reference would be greatly appreciated!
