Win98 to Win XP Home Networking Issue

J

Jim Piazza

I have a Linsys wireless router connected to my WIN98 and
Cable modem and a WIN XP machine connected by USB wireless
adpater. Both machines share the Internet with no problem.
But the 2 machines cannot see each other. File and print
sharing are enabled. The LAN connection on the XP shows
the device as the ethernet card, and shows status
of "network cable unplugged". How can I get the XP system
to use the wireless connection for the LAN? I've tried
bridging connections with no success.

Thanks.

Make sure both PC's are setup in a workgroup, both have
assigned tcp\ip addresses in the same scheme (192.168.1.x
and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0) you may check to see
your ip by doing a start/run type "cmd"/enter
type "ipconfig" enter.
