Win32 error code returned by print processor: 29 (0x1d)

I have a HP Deksjet 1220C printer attached to and
installed on the LPT1 port on a Windows 2000 server with
SP4. When I try to print a document or testpage I get the
following error in the Event log.

"The document Test Page owned by Administrator failed to
print. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 29
(0x1d)" and I get no testpage.
However, if I restart the server I am able to print 1 or 2
testpages, and thats it.
I have tried reinstalling the softwarre for the printer,
tried only using the driver for the printer etc.

I appreciate any input/help on this.
