Win2k won't boot after HDD Clone

Dear All,

Some of you may have seen a previous post from me regarding cloning a drive
to another. Now I have a problem.

Here is what happened..

I installed Ghost 2003, proceeded to do the clone to other drive in the
system on the basis of changing jumpers when done. Ghost advised me it was
going into DOS.
Upon reseting I received the error message. "missing operating system". So
after a few hours researching I found I had to re-activate the partition, so
I chucked the drive into my XP box, Activated, and cloned the drive across
the 40gig drive.[Using the XP Machine]

I then stick the 40gig in the box, and start it up... I get the usual bar on
the bottom, then the Win2k logo, etc...

Then I get..

Loading your personal settings
Saving your person settings
{A brief flash of what i think is a logon page} [I originally had the
machine auto logon]
Loading your personal settings
Saving your person settings
{A brief flash of what i think is a logon page}
{Etc, etc, etc}

What has gone wrong? I've even tried to boot up in safe mode, and again the
same thing....I just can't get my machine to fully load up?

Hope someone can shed some light on this matter for me...

Regards.
Paul.

Since posting this, I did a little bit more research, and a remote regisitry
edit later, I managed to get in. It appears that the machine remembers the
old drive as "F", starts to boot as "C", then gets told the drive is "F"
again, and confused it.. Hence the constant loop.

Regards.
Paul.
