Win2k to WinXP

I have a Westel Versalink DSL modem/hub. It is connected to my phone line
and my desktop computer (Win2k) with a network cable. It is has a wireless
connection to my laptop (WinXP). I have DHCP enabled. I do not try and
force a static IP address. I can see, ping and tracert (1 hop) the laptop
from the desktop, but I cannot see any shared files (Network path not
found). I cannot see the desktop from the laptop. They both have the same
workgroup name. Should there be some signon process that I am not doing?
What do you suggest?

Karl

The result of ipconfig/all on the desktop is:

0. what's your xp ip address?
1. try to disable your laptop xp firewall, then use win2k and xp search
each other. if you can, you should see shared files. (you also can use the
following configuration)
2. If you can log on into dsl modem, try to set your dsl username/password
on modem, and enable dhcp on modem and disable Bridge Mode.
3. Remove your dsl connection on your win2k computer.
