Win2K SP4 issues..system down!

Tom

After updating a workstation to SP4, including the latest
security patch, I can't logon to the network with the
workstation. I had SP4 rebooted and then installed the
latest MS updates. I have also ran a virus check, via
McAfee..no viruses. Also ran a Adaware check before
rebooting also. Both negative.

I can boot into standalone safe mode ok, but Safe or non-
safe mode with networking doesn't work. I get the
password screen including the loading and applying
personal settings. After the personal settings dialog box
disappears, the system displays the standard blue-screen
and the LED light on the drive quits. I've let the 1Mhz
system process for about 10 minutes, but to no avail. it
normally boots in 30 seconds or so.

Any ideas of what to do or how I can reverse my latest
series of updates from Microsoft? Can I reinstall Win2K
without destroying my registry and settings, etc.?
TIA,
Tom

If you backed up the system files in the SP4 install, might want to boot into safe mode and uninstall the SP4 using the exe in the
uninstall folder (hidden) usually in WINNT folder. Disable McAfee for the reinstall if you choose to do it.
