WIN2K ROUTING

J

JULIUS

Having problems configuring a Win2000 server as a router.
I have enabled Routing and RAS and selected Network Router
in the wizard. Server is multihomed and I would like to
talk (send IP print jobs) from Network A to Network B.

NIC-A 10.1.0.2 255.255.0.0
NIC-B 192.168.1.10 255.255.255.0

From Network A, I can ping 10.10.10.10 and 192.168.251.202
on the server but I cannot ping hosts on the 192.168.251.0
subnet. From the server I can ping hosts in each subnet.
I enabled IP Forwarding in the Registry. All IPs are
statically assigned. What else do I need to configure?

have you enabled NAT. NAT may block the traffic.

What is the default route of the machines in the 192.168.1 subnet? If it
is not this router, then ping will fail, because the reply will not come
back to this router.

PS. You do not need to enable IP routing in the registry if you have enabled
routing in RRAS. RRAS does it for you.
