win2k professional: using video cards with two video ouput channe

I am trying to used video cards with two video output channels per card. So
far apparently Microsoft choose to leave the code out of WIN2K Professional.
It was in previous Windows. I want to get 4monitors working from 2 card
slots. Is there a patch or download available that provides this feature back
into Win 2K Professional? I have been able to get one monitor driven from
each card. I do not have the space to install 4 cards. Do I have to upgrade
to vista which I don't want to do since the upgrade path from Win 2K
Professional requires re-installing all other applications. No thanks
microsoft.

ANDY THANKS FOR THE REPLY .
THE REF SHOWS MANY CONFIG OF MULTIPLE MONITORS CAN BE DONE.
I NOW WONDER IF MY PROBLEM IS THE DRIVERS AND NOT CODE LEFT OUT OF WIN2K
PROFESSIONAL?

Suggest that you undo your "CAPS" key since all caps equates to shouting.

I would expect that your problem is with your drivers for your graphics
card. The ability to handle multiple monitors depends upon your graphics
drivers and not specifically the OS.

Thanks for the CAPS reminder. I am from the old old days when the tty keboard
only had caps. Appreciate the response. Apparently I was misinformed by the
video card seller about code microsoft left out of WIN2K Professional. I will
contact card manufacturer and ask for updated drivers.

Hi Bill

If ease of use under W2K is your main aim I would personally recommend the
Matrox range, cheap to get on ebay with solid drivers and the dual head
cards work well. I have several setups but for simple setup a G400/G550
series card in the AGP slot and the same again in a PCI slot gives you 4
monitors, control of each screen resolution and frequency and a reliable
system.

Personally I have found mixing manufacturers makes for unstable systems.

If you have a bit more money you can get one of the 4 output Matrox cards
which uses just a single PCI slot.

One point is all these setups are no good for Gaming but for work no
problems.

Hope that helps

Andy
