win2k pro group policies

i work at a lab running a peer-to-peer network. we're
running win2k pro. we have students changing desktop
properites and other low level stuff.

i have participated in setting up global and local
policies in another lab that was a client-server
environment where there was an active server directory.

i'd like to know if its possible to set up group policies
in win 2k pro on an individual machine where only (say the
student account) is affected without affecting the other
user accounts?

Windows 2000/XP support local profiles... You could set up a local profile
that supports multiple users, but it will take some time and is not very
dynamic or robust... Setting up a simple domain controller might be worth
the effort if this is an ongoing situation...

The following link may be worth a try. However, if you ever need to configure the
policy in the future you will need to reverse the deny permissions temporarily for
the administrator or try changing the Group Policy from a remote machine via
mmc/Group Policy snapin/another machine.. --- Steve
