Win2k pro Fault!!!

My company has bought some external harddisks recently to
run on P4 PC with OS Win2K pro.

This external harddisk is used for backup purpose, meaning
saving/copying some important files over.

One of it was having problem. Initially it was running on
a notebook but no problem to save files. When it was
running on desktop to save some files over message below
was popping up :

"Windows was unable to save all the data for file
\Device\HarddiskVolume2\Lam\Audit\PT.xls. The data has
been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your
computer hardware or network connection. Please try to
save this file elsewhere."
OK is the default button...

When checked on the drive, some files are copied over but
not all!

I have tried it in another desktop (running on the same
platform and processor)has no problem to do the saving. If
i used another drive to connect to that PC, the same
message will be popping up. Wonder is this Win2k Pro bugs?

If any one know the solution please enlighten me. Thanks a
zillion.

This isn't a Windows 2000 problem, but a USB implementation problem. Someone
or something has loaded improper/incorrect USB drivers on this particular
workstation. You need to fix this.

How? Depends upon your level of expertise. One sure way, if you're not an
expert, is to wipe the machine clean and reload everything. I don't mean for
you to just reload Windows 2000, I mean for you to format the hard disk and
do a complete reload of the system.
