Win2K client connection to NT Domain/Servers.

Hi,

I'm trying to get a bunch of Windows 2000 Pro laptops onto my Windows NT4
based network/domain.

The network is a single domain, and I have had limited success in
incorporating windows 2000 clients on to it. So far I have one machine that
I can ping from the client to the NT Domain but not from the Domain to the
client.

A second machine has been added to the network , but when trying to logon
and access the network with valid network logon credentials it reports that
it cannot connect.

Can some one please tell me what I need to do to successfully connect these
clients to the network.

The servers are all WINS, I am not using DNS or DHCP, The clients are all
running TCP/IP and NetBT

Please help!

Mate,

Make sure that they are all on the same subnet for a start (i.e. the ip
addresses are 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254 with a mask of 255.255.255.0).
Then try pinging.

Cheers,

Blare

They're on th same subnet, I have tried disabling the encrypted
communications in the Security policies as well.

I had the, uh, priveledge, of maintaining an NT4 domain with PDC, BDC, and a
mixed basket of clients from Win95 all the way through to XP. I didn't have
any problems with them joining the domain at all, however I ran DHCP & WINS
on the network. That, and the fact that the only protocol i ran was TCP/IP,
sounds like the only difference here.
