Win2003 BDC not in browser list

no win2003.networking group, so I'll try here...

New Win2003 network, with PDC and BDC.
The BDC computer does not show up in the domain browser lists on any
computer on network.
If I type in the explorer address line "\\<servername>\<share name>, and
press enter, then the computer will show up in the browser list under that
domain when explorer goes to that directory.

Windows File and Printer Sharing is enabled, and that server does have
shares (which have been published in the active directory).

Any ideas of why the BDC isn't showing up in the domain, and what I can do
to fix it?

Thanks,
Wayne

I am a bit confused. The term bdc would indicate a NT4.0 machine, but I think you
mean a second Windows 2003 domain controller. Assuming such, run netdiag on it
looking for any failed tests that may indicate the problem and look in Event Viewer
for pertinent errors. If you are still using wins, make sure it is also a wins client
and that the wins address is correct. The other main things to check is that netbios
over tcp/ip is enabled in tcp/ip advanced/wins properties, it is not configured to be
hidden - check " net config server ", and that no firewall/ipsec filtering is
blocking any netbios ports such as 135, 137, 138, or 139 tcp/udp. Check that the
server service is started and if it has more than one nic, that the lan nic is at the
top of the priority order. --- Steve
