Win2000 professional keeps restarting

Hi,

My Win2000 professional keep restarting, don't know why.
That machine is a hp machine, came with a system recovery
disk. However, if I practise the recovery, all data will
be erased.
My question: Is it possible to repair the system using a
standard Win2000 setup CD?
Any help will be appreciated.

Yes. Boot from the CD, enter setup, select repair install.

Have you considerd the following possibility? Your SYSTEM might be infected
with the BLASTER worm...Update your Anti-Virus scanning engine (you do have
one I hope) & SCAN the sytem for any viruses...If you do find the BLASTER
virus...Download a utility/tool to remove it & scan again...

Then PATCH up the system using the MS03-026, MS03-039 & MS03-40 patches from
MS sites (search & D/L them)!
