Win2000 PC self rebooting???

Keeps rebooting on it's own. Norton antivirus running, says no probs,
updated at the very latest, last week. Problem started about two weeks ago.
Realize could be(prob. is?) hardware problem, but is there something quirky
about 2000 that could be causing it?

Not sure if this is the right group for this question or not, if not, please
forgive. :)

Thanks!
Shawn

It's not just based on number of championships won. Richard Petty won
200 races and 7 Daytona 500s in his 30+ year driving career. He also has
the most top-5s (555), top-10s (712), poles (126), laps completed
(307,836), laps led (52,194), races led (599) and consecutive races won
(10 in 1967) of any driver in NASCAR history.

Danny,

Thanks. Just downloaded the removal tool, as well as the patch from MS, and
when I run the tool it says it's not there. Any other thoughts?

Is there anything in event viewer before it reboots?
When does it reboot? Any particular program or action? Any new hardware
added?

Can you repeat it regularly?

The event viewer will show events for all.
It is *possible* it will only happen under her account. If so, deleting her
profile from the local computer (or server if using roaming profiles) and
recreating it may fix it.

You might try solving the corrupt application log.

The first thing I would suspect is newly added hardware/software.

The specific worm isn't the issue - did you patch all servers and
workstations? Got a firewall?

People need to remember that this worm is only one of a gazillion to
come....the vulnerability is the problem. Patch away, get a firewall, get AV
software....

Hardware firewall, and up to date AV on all machines. Not sure if all
patches are loaded or not. Kinda have a question on that too... how is MS
with their patches now? Been around since the first DOS days, and never did
trust MS' patches.. most of them caused more problems than they solved. How
about now?
