win2000 issue(s)

Hi,

I'm running win2kpro and since a few days I cannot list files/directories in explorer (filemanager). Also icons in controlpanel and network connections are not visible. There are files (100%) in the appr. directories, when clicking on "mycomputer", it gives an empty box but at bottom it says 8 objects but notjing displayed/listed.
Also the icon in the topright corner keeps spinning but someho it doesn't find/see anything.
When starting a program I can use the load function to select a file, that part is working.

Any idea where to look for ?

I always start with the event log. What happens if you logon as a new user?
Create a new account in Control Panel|Users and Passwords.
