My desktop at work runs win xp home edition but seems to
have all the components for remote desktop. My desire is
to use my laptop at home that runs windows 98 to connect
to the work computer...is this even possible? Thanks in
advance for the help!

If you need to access/control a XP Home desktop , then look at VNC or NetMeeting RDS. Get the VNC
server and client from...

http://www.realvnc.com or
http://www.tightvnc.com

NetMeeting is built-in to XP and 2000 and can *NOT* be upgraded. Look at this KB article for help
with RDS...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;233175

If this is over the public internet, then keep in mind the VNC data link is *NOT* encrypted like the
NetMeeting RDS link is, if that matters to you. Some folks run VNC through SSH or VPN tunnels.
