WIn XP log on/ display failure

When connecting laptop to a projector I was adjusting display settings to
improve color quality. In "display" - "seettings" I was trying different
things. In plug and play "general" I set it to "restart computer before
applying new display settings" In "Adapter - Propeties - General" I enabled
usage of this device. on restarting the laptop however Windows XP began its
start up sequence but the screen just remained blank after the start up logo
had done. I am also unable to access the boot up menu though it offers me the
option. I am at a total loss.

Hii u have more than one options here boot in safe mode and fix the drivers
and settings.
else use system restore %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
else if u have a boot disk or windows cd u can gain access to dos with out
booting into windows then do the following changes in ur boot.ini file u
will see a line similar to this add "/ BASEVIDEO" in the end of it.
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT /BASEVIDEO
you can then login to ur windows with basic video options set the video
drivers and settings revert the changes done to boot.ini (open it in notepad
c:\boot.ini & remove /BASEVIDEO) or u can do it from msconfig boot.ini
settings. remove the changes to boot.ini reboot and done!

Hope this helps....,
