To whom it may concern,
I've just had my computer serviced and had WIN XP home re-installed the
other day. Other family members use my computer and this morning I turned
the system on and startup went on normally until the desktop wallpaper
loaded. At this point the computer just seemed to hang there, no desktop
items(shortcuts, etc.) or the task bar were displayed. I opened the task
manager and there were no applications running although there seemed to be
the usual number of processes running. I was able to get everything going by
using the "sleep" key on the microsft keyboard, waiting for the tower to shut
down(sleep), then powering up the tower, at which point windows immediately
prompted me to select the user(there is only one). After the user was
selected everything seemed to function normally. I'm not sure if some of the
settings were altered by my family(no one would admit to doing anything),
however, the computer normally does not require me to go through this whole
procedure just to access the the software. Any ideas or assistance would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
