Win XP handling FLASH memory sticks

A

aa

Every time I insert Flash memory stick or a CD, Windows XP hangs for
sometime looking for something and then pops up a message asking what
actions to perform on the files.
How do I set WinXP to prevent doing so and act as w2k does - i.e. just shows
ther file in Windows Explorer immediately without asking questions?

If you look carefully, at the end of that pop message, you should find an
option "Always use this ....." which should always set the default action to
the one you select.

With the USB drive inserted, right-click on it & choose Properties. Choose
the AutoPlay tab & choose 'Select an action to perform.' From the Actions
panel, select Take no action.

Go w/DhamAngry...[Take No Action] in PROPERTIES...for the DRIVE in
question...I think that option is for a more advanced user who has definite
actions and great Files..I will just use the RIP---when a Music CD---is
inserted...which OPENS WMP-10 and automatically gets Files
created..<<sometimes it misses files>>..needing Supervision.
