When I used Win9x, random freezes were due to my display driver and
underpowered display adapter. Using XP, I had the problem with a shorted
RAM slot on the motherboard. Flakey RAM can also cause this.

I have the same btc drive same problem.
Windows error reporting tells me it is a device driver but not much more
than that.
Looking @ your specs looks like it may be the Geforce driver as this may be
the only thing in common.

Intel Brownsville MB
Intel 2.4 Ghz
512Mb ram DDR
Geforce 4MX 440 Gainward.
SB live 5.1 value

You're likely to be right.
I re-installed Windows and it began again to freeze a few moments after
installing the drivers of my geforce 4 MX.

Since, I updated the firmware of the BTC DVD burner and for a while it
looked better. But the pb is not solved and I am still disturbed by
hasardous crash freezing my XP pro.

Pierre.
