Win Messenger keeps starting

Hey all,

My windows messenger keeps starting up, which I don't want. Recently, I
opened Outlook and someone from my contact list started chatting to me. I
couldn't even see Messenger up - it wasn't in the task bar or anything. I've
disabled it in the program, but I don't know how it could've started.

Is there any way to get rid of it, or just to stop from starting up anytime
I use a Microsoft application that connects to the net? I use MSN messenger
when I want to talk to friends, but when I don't, it sucks that this windows
messenger connects me.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks :)

Greetings,

You'll just need to turn off the Messenger functionality within Outlook.

For Outlook 2003, click the Tools menu in Outlook, then choose Options, choose the Other tab,
uncheck "Enable the Person Names Smart Tag" and click OK.

For Outlook 2002/XP, open Outlook, click the Tools menu, then Options, then the Other tab,
and uncheck 'Enable Instant Messaging in Microsoft Outlook'.

For Outlook Express, close Outlook Express, then download and run this .reg file:

Hi, which version are you using?

Maybe you just need to disable the check box that allows
to log in when you start windows. you will find it from
tools -- options -- general tab.

Other option is that you are running it in the background
but it happens with messanger 4.7

I hope it helps.
