win. installer service could not be acessed

I just got a l/O Magic external DVD+RW/+R dual format double layer, with
lightscribe , so I can laser label my cd's. When I tried to install the
software that came with it (Nero burning Rom software) I got a message saying
that an older version of nero had to be uninstalled first. When I tried to
uninstall it I got another message saying , Win. installer service could not
be acessed. Can accur if you are running win. in safe mode, or if the
installer was not install correctly. If anyone can help me, that would be
great, thank you.

Not sure what is happening with the Nero install?

In the meantime, go to the Lightscribe website at the following link and download the Surething 4SE which is the stand alone labeling software for Lightscribe. Also download the Extended label contrast utility and install both.
