Win 2k Pro not recognised

I have recently re-installed Win 2K Pro and also SP4 (SP4
installed from burned CD). My OS version is currently
5.0.2195 (SP4)

When I go to Windows Update to download other critical
updates and patches, I get a message saying
"You must be running a Microsoft Windows operating system
in order to use Windows Update." Problem is that I am
running Windows OS but it seemingly isn't being recognised.

Any help or suggestions welcome.
