Hello All

I am trying to create my own domain on my win 2003 server.
I have set up the domain fine with AD and a DNS server.

I only have one client XP PC, I have been able to create an account in
AD and connect via my client XP to my domain.
From my client PC I can see my server shares, but when I Remote Desktop
to my server I cant ping my XP client let alone see its shares.

I am able to ping my default gateway from my server and can ping my
server from my XP client but I cant ping my XP client from my Server
:O(

Also when I check the NTFS permissions on my client they seem to be
acting like local permissions when in fact they should be from my
domain.

I am lost now anyone get any advice?

Thanks in Advance

Firewall turned on? Or allow ICMP echo replies.

I had ZoneAlarm installed so removed it and still I cant ping my XP
client from my server 2003. When I ping the IP address of the client i
get 'connection refused when i try to ping the computer name for it, it
says host not recognised.

I am starting to think the DNS server is not setup correctly but I have
tested it and it seems fine. hmmmm now im confused.

Sounds like a DNS issue? mmm...You'll need to add a hostname record for your PC or check it exists in DNS. Your server should have an external IP address (routing to your ISP) and an internal IP address. Can you confirm if you setup the server with your own DHCP scope?
