Here is a new one.
I have 7 Win XP computers networked & completely seeing & accessing each
others shared files. Then I Added a Win 2000 pro to the network. All 7 of the
Win XP's can access & view the Win 2000 pro.
OK But, the win 2000 pro can view the Win XP's But cannot access the 7
individual Win XP Computers. Workgroups are the Same. I have even set the
permission set to allow Everybody & full access to the Win XP computers.
Whenever I click on the Individual Win XP computers in the "entire network"
Network neighborhood I get this Error"THE VOLUME DOES NOT CONTAIN A
RECOGNIZED FILE SYSTEM". I have even turned off the Norton Internet Security
Firewall & Windows XP Firewall & have even tried to disable both Norton
programs on both computers but This error still happens. Some how the Win
2000 is not being able to access the Win XP Pro Computers. Any body have any
Thoughts?????????????

What you didn't mention is whether from each WinXP computer, you can access
the other WinXP computers. Can you?
From the W2k PC can you ping each of the workstations by their IP addresses?
their names? Got NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled on W2k?

I Found out what was going on...... I uninstalled Norton Antivirus 2006 and
it is working fine now,
So for a FYY Norton Antivirus 2006 Collides with the networking of Win2k!!!!!
Norton Antivirus 2006 has no firewall on it like Norton Internet Security
2006 does!!!!!!

Nice going, LD, and thanks for letting us know the solution. I find
that mysterious networking problems and error messages are often
solved by uninstalling Norton and/or McAfee products.

If networking doesn't work after booting normally, but it works after
booting in "Safe mode with networking", it's very likely that such a
product is causing the problem.

Norton Antivirus 2005 and 2006 do have a firewall component. I think
they call it "Internet Worm Protection".

I installed Trend Micro - Internet Security/PC-cillin 2005 on the computer
this morning & had NO problems with that SO I think I'll be sticking with
this product for all my Networking solutions. I Hate wasting my time trying
to figure out a problem do to software conficts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
