WiFi Config on Multiple WAPs Can access at some but not all.

We are connecting to wireless at home with no problems. When we take it on
the road, we are able to connect at some places and not others. All of the
sites we are attempting to connect to are set for OPEN access.

During one of the events that i could not get internet access i decided to
run the command "ipconfig /renew." While in the process of renewing the IP i
was given a message stating that there was already a device with the same
address on the network.

This lead me to believe that my IP (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) that was conflicting
with a prexsisting IP of the same address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)

Might it be possible to assign a static IP to my wireless card?

I am unsure of how to resolve this issue and if there are any suggestions as
to what might be causing this, please respond.

In this case, you may want to release first and renew again.

Well Robert,
I have tried many of the troubleshooting techniques. I am a technician
who is

not A+ Certified but I have been working with these machines for some number
of

years. But I digress.

When we are on the road I brought along with me a laptop containing

WINDOWS XP and the one we are having the issue of it not connecting with me

also which is running Vista. The one unit running XP connects no problem and
the

one with Vista still has the issue. Even after i ATTEMPT to renew the IP in
the

proper steps. See when i try to release the IP Vista won't let it because it
was not

assigned a valid IP to begin with. Thus even when i try to renew the IP, i
get no

where because for some reason it has an issue with the DHCP, atleast thats
what i

have been lead to believe through reading all of the KB from Microsoft. There

seems to be an issue with the handshaking process between

the two items. But at any rate if anyone else has any suggestions, please
let me

know.
