I was on this PC earlier and then put into STANDBY.
Returned - powered back on and when I opened IE, rather than heading to
yahoo as normal, I was sent to
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/default.mspx
how ? why ? ( XP Sp2 - all critical updates - still at IE 6)
homepage is still yahoo and when I opened/closed it did go there, but
this isn't the first time this has happened. Is this MSFT's way up
having me migrate to IE7 ? Something in registry from last windowsupdate
with a tickler to redirect me there every x days ???

I believe it redirects to that site after critical updates. I could be
wrong.

Hi Bobb,

Internet Options>Advanced tab, uncheck 'Automatically check for Internet
Explorer updates'

Regards.

You're right - that WAS set.
I clicked the ? for the checkbox and there is it - it "will let me know
within 30 days of updates."
Thanks
