Why Photos On CD-R Won't Print

M

Morton

Hi,

I have several CD-Rs of my photos, some made by me and some made at a
photo store, that will not print via my PC that runs Vista Home Premium.
I get an on-screen message that Windows cannot find the photos; this
while the CD-R is spinning in the PC's CD player. If I try to drag the
photos to the Pictures folder, they won't go, but merely make a link = a
short cut. Previously, dragging the CD-R icon to the Pictures folder
resulted in the photos being copied to that folder.

Does anyone know what causes this, and how to solve it?

Thank you.

Hi Morton,
I haven't encountered this exact problem before, but it could be that all
your files are "Read only" which can cause this sort of problem.
Google can lead you to programs that will change attributes.
IIRC, Attribute Magic Free.exe is one I have used in the past.
Otherwise, instead of dragging, try Copy and Paste to move your pictures.
Hope this helps,

Jim.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the nice suggestions. The CD-Rs in question are Read Only and
can't be changed, but I found that if I can put the images onto my
Pictures file, then all is OK. The problem so far is that with dragging
and dropping, I can only drag one picture at a time, which takes
forever. The entire picture file won't drag. I will try the copy and
then paste.

Thanks again,

Morton

Ask Vista questions in a Vista newsgroup. You are much more likely to find
someone who has a similar problem to yours there.
