Why no yEnc support?

So, why does Vista Mail not support yEnc? People have been wanting Outlook
Express to support this fairly old, and VERY common, usenet encoding method
for a LONG time, and the latest version, now named Vista Mail, was the
perfect opportunity to include it.

So, WHY have they chosen to ignore this widely used standard? I fail to
understand what possible reasoning they could have to ignore it, especially
when almost every other newsreader out there DOES.

Fair enough.... It's not perfect, and it has problems... But still, that
doesn't alter the fact that since those documents were written (Thanks for
the links BTW), yEnc pretty much HAS become a de facto standard and is
widely used on the internet.

It may not be pretty, but it's used everywhere, so why not add it in? Other
newsreaders manage too, and I've never had problems with them... I just
prefer the way OE does things...

I think that historically, the OE dev team has gotten enough complaints
about how Outlook Express fails to comply with existing standards as
outlined in the RFCs, that they are naturally reluctant to insert anything
new into any mail application until it has a large body of standards for how
it should work. And that comment would apply to Windows Mail, WLMD and the
current web only product Windows Live mail.

Now if you want to rail about stupidity, how about going after the wise guys
who came up with those names?

I agree 100%. yEnc is an absolute need in news groups. It's the standard and
has been for a couple of years now.

That's just the trouble: There hasn't been a standard adopted.
