why my emails don't show in subfolders?

why my emails don't show in subfolders? Previously they were distributed
manually, and were very much there. Now all the messages have disappeared. Do
I have to start a fresh?

You don't give us much information to go on, how do you expect anybody
to help you? Please specify
- your Outlook version
- your account type
- where are your folders/subfolders stored - in a PST file, or on an
IMAP or Exchange Server?
- what happened between when your messages were there, and when they
disappeard?
- do you have AutoArchive activated?
