Why is pop3 ghosted when I try to configure an email account?

When I try to edit email settings to use pop3/smtp I am not allowed to. All
options except Microsoft Exchange Server are ghosted. How can I fix this
problem without losing information I have already entered into Outlook?

What version of Outlook? Perhaps your mail admins have disabled that type
of account.

Brian,

Office 2003 Pro -- I don't have admins, just 1 technicologically challenged
boss. He provided to software so I assume whoever provided it to him set up
outlook to only have access to an exchange server. Is there any way I can
change this setting?

It would be a group policy in AD, I imagine. Try asking in the Exchange
newsgroup
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.exchange.admin .
