DMA Enabled...

whats this latency patch? should i get one?

thanks

With any chipset, especially Via's, toggling some of the chipset
registers can fine-tune certain devices like RAID controllers or sound
cards with agressive use of the PCI bus. The latency patch(es) and
RAID drivers are primarily meant to address those devices but may also
have in impact on the regular IDE ports.

Here's the files, though you may need to do a lot of different
benchmarks to make proper determination if they're beneficial or not:

Thanks again for very good resources web site (formus.amdmb.com). It
has already become one of my first & primary help stops when dealing
with amd issues. Xp 2500 is my first amd cpu. Before i've must have
had about 10-15 intel's. Now consciously made the switch as its much
cheaper and has room for o/c.

There are couple of those files to choose from & having a brief look
in to it it seems that i don't really need this patch as things work
fine. Also this patch is primarly designed for RAID which am still
reluctant to trust & don't really need it as my amd rig is primarily
for games/multimedia (movies/sound).

Thanks very much & have a super x-mass & happy new year!
