Why don't "sent" messages go into "sent folder" after leaving "out

Sometimes, my sent messages don't show up in the "sent items" folder for up
to 24 hours. I'm not even absolutely sure they always wind up there. What I
do know is that today, for example, I need to print messages I have sent and
can't because they're off in cyberspace somewhere. I know emails have gone
out today because I have received feedback, both with the "receipt" feature,
as well as people responding to my messages. But, according to my "sent
items" folder, nothing has left my Outlook all day! I am using Outlook 2003,
Small Business edition. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know
why and what I can do about it.
